Students had an emergency early dismissal on Tuesday, when the flooded water permeated portions of the first floor of the building near Meadow Avenue, and classes were canceled on Wednesday as crews cleaned up.

Bronxville Schools Superintendent Roy Montesano said that more than 50 contractors were in the building to clean and sanitize any area of the school that took on water, which was isolated to the A, B and C wings on the first floor.

Montesano noted that since the kitchen will be closed, students should bring lunch from home or purchase lunch in town. The fields and playgrounds will all be available for recess, gym classes and after-school sports.

“Due to an abundance of caution as we await sample testing, we will have these areas closed off to students tomorrow and Friday,” Montesano said. “You will be receiving an email from your building principals with specifics about room re-locations and locker belongings.”
